From the confluence of social, cultural and urban history, Cartas para Pepo examines everyday life vis-à-vis the genealogy of the Chilean illustrator René Ríos Boettiger (1911-2000), delving into his sensibilities, emotions, and affect, establishing a connection with the autobiographical tone of his artistic production, his intersubjectivity, and his agency. His letters are examined in conjunction with family photographs, Pepo’s original works, his characters, his comic strips, and an assortment of documents and press items, weaving a history of intimacy that focuses on gender relations, the urban space, and the intersection with class—tracing the history of Chile through the illustrator’s pen over the course of the twentieth century.

Abstract
From the confluence of social, cultural and urban history, Cartas para Pepo examines everyday life vis-à-vis the genealogy of the Chilean illustrator René Ríos Boettiger (1911-2000), delving into his sensibilities, emotions, and affect, establishing a connection with the autobiographical tone of his artistic production, his intersubjectivity, and his agency. His letters are examined in conjunction with family photographs, Pepo’s original works, his characters, his comic strips, and an assortment of documents and press items, weaving a history of intimacy that focuses on gender relations, the urban space, and the intersection with class—tracing the history of Chile through the illustrator’s pen over the course of the twentieth century.I documenti in ARCA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
