Offscapes exist “in the backwater of the outer city”. It is here where buildings passively survive, once active in the production of goods and now abandoned to their destiny of desolation, disrepair and ruin. This is the subject of the dialogue between text and images, between Vincenzo Bagnoli and Valeria Reggi. A dialogue in which the written word directs the reader through the photographs; not a relationship of pre-conceived complicity, but rather an attempt to interpret this noose-like progress through the written word. A dialogue which highlights the lack of reciprocity between workplaces and those who once occupied them; not a single person is present, save for the evident crowd of the absent. A dialogue composed of unfinished stories, presumed behaviour, lost glances, layers of accumulated dust “of grey personal archaeologies”. Without movement, nor gesture, not even a trace of the life that once ran through these places. All the buildings have been “removed from the event horizon”, inert, switched off. Off, full stop.

Abstract
Off, full stop.I documenti in ARCA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
