In the early fifties Giuseppe Santomaso is one of the most Italian artists known and appreciated throughout Europe. In the summer of 1954 Santomaso will also be recognized as best Italian painter at the Biennale of Venice.Silvio Branzi is the art critic of «Gazzettino», responsible for the third page of the main Venetian newspaper. And He has been a personal friend of many over the years artists such as Arturo Martini, Filippo de Pisis and is also very close to the youngest Giuseppe Santomaso. The friendship between the painter and the reporter is confirmed by the many postcards and tickets of greetings, letters that Santomaso creates personally for the critic over the years, especially during holidays, today preserved in the archive funds of the journalist divided between the Mart of Rovereto and the Gabinetto Vieusseux in Florence. The most important documents, kept among papers from the Florentine archive, they certainly are those concerning the year 1957: Santomaso, in fact, is preparing his first exhibition in New York at Grace Borgenicht Gallery on Madison Avenue.
