In the moment when the 450th anniversary of Os Lusíada is being celebrated, this text intends to reflect on the idyll in “Canto IX” of the Camonian epic, seeking to describe its function in the progress of the renowned work in conjunction with some of his eclogues, so particular, since the poet seems to have maneuvered them between high and low tones in addition to introducing a 'new' style to Portugal, alternating interlocutors from the countryside and the sea, such as, for example, Agrario and Alicuto, who meet on the beach.
