Adults wish to learn a language for professional, personal or emotional reasons in order to enrich or perfect their previous education. Teaching to adults is complex because the individual, natural and social characteristics of each learner are different and when a class is composed of adults of various ages and geographical backgrounds, the task of a teacher becomes very difficult. Adults in the Classroom is designed to satisfy scientific and practical needs at the same time: the theoretical parts, which illustrate research on language teaching to adults and define its parameters, are supplemented by 25 activity worksheets, authentic teaching materials that teachers can use in the classroom. The proposals in the book are designed for teaching Italian to foreigners, but the suggestions offered can be adapted to other languages.

Sempre più adulti per esigenze professionali, personali o affettive desiderano imparare una lingua per arricchire o perfezionare la propria formazione precedente. Insegnare a adulti è complesso perché le caratteristiche individuali, naturali e sociali di ogni apprendente sono diverse e quando una classe è formata da adulti di varie età e provenienze geografiche, il compito di un insegnante diventa molto arduo. Adulti in classe è concepito per rispondere a esigenze scientifiche e pratiche allo stesso tempo: le parti teoriche, che illustrano le ricerche sull’insegnamento delle lingue agli adulti e ne definiscono i parametri, sono integrate da 25 schede con attività operative, vero e proprio materiale didattico che gli insegnanti potranno utilizzare in classe. Le proposte presenti nel libro sono state ideate per l’insegnamento dell’italiano a stranieri, ma gli stimoli offerti possono essere adattati ad altre lingue.
