The article deals with three sonnets in (pseudo-)Italian contained in Julio Cortázar's last book, "Salvo el crepúsculo" (1984). The poems are analyzed as for their metrical and prosodic structure, in order to show how the tradition of the Italian sonnet is imitated and ridiculed, leading to nonsense texts sounding to foreign ears just like Petrarchan love poetry.
