The painting underwent a recent restoration that solved conservation problems due to previously documented color falls and improved the overall legibility of the work. The canvas, mentioned for the first time already in the Pinacoteca by Serra comes from the church of San Rocco built in 1505 by deliberation of the local magistracies, similarly to numerous other buildings dedicated to Saints Roch and Sebastian, saints invoked contra pestem.
