Coses que no es diuen: genealogia embrionària de maternitats subalternes i de no-maternitats en la narrativa catalana i italiana contemporània

The purpose of this contribution is to draw up a catalogue of Catalan and Italian works that addresses the issue of subaltern motherhoods and nonmotherhoods from a comparative perspective, accompanied by references to works from other neighbouring literatures such as Hispanic, Basque, French or Anglophone, among others, focusing mainly on narrative. We will try to establish parallelisms and traces of intertextuality, through common or reciprocal readings and shared sensitivities, from a sociological perspective. A first embryonic corpus will be presented, focusing specifically on the different literary representations of subaltern mothers and non-mothers as literary subjects, based on fourteen works: sourced from the Catalan tradition, Gina (2019), by Maria Climent; Dolça introducció al caos (2020), by Marta Orriols; Boulder (2020) and Mamut (2022), by Eva Baltasar; Distòcia (2022), by Pilar Codony and L’últim agost a Barcelona (2022), di Anna Gurguí; from the Italian tradition, books as Corpo felice. Storia di donne, rivoluzioni e un figlio che se ne va (2018), by Dacia Maraini; Niente di vero (2022), by Veronica Raimo; Cose che non si raccontano (2023), by Antonella Lattanzi and, finally, «Utero in affido», a chapter from Tre ciotole. Rituali per un anno di crisi (2023), by Michela Murgia. To these, we include four books stemming from Hispanic and Basques traditions: La hija única (2020), by Guadalupe Nettel; La anguilla (2021), by Paula Bonet; La historia de los vertebrados (2023), by Mar García Puig and Amek ez dute (2018), and Katixa Agirre.
