The Polo Digitale degli Istituti Culturali di Napoli organised the Conference, held in Naples on 14 and 15 December 2022, on the photographic representation of the landscape, seeking to enhance collections of public and private Italian archives, including little-known ones. The theme, at the centre of today's lively debate on the environment, finds in the photographic sources a testimony not only to the urbanisation growing urbanisation in the late 19th and early 20th century, with associated problems related to the adaptation and redevelopment of cities, but also of the places and people of communities scattered across the vast rural territories of both inland and coastal areas.
