The following paper presents new readings of the Lydian inscription LW 40 by the authors, based on collation of the inscription at the Museum of Berlin in 2015 and a Reflection Transformation Image (RTI) provided by the museum. Since a detailed discussion of the research history of LW 40 as well as the new epigraphic findings have been published in a German journal in 2016, only the central information will be repeated in the present article. The inscription is a Lydian-Greek bilingual text, found on a column drum from the temple of Athena in Pergamon. The new collation presented by the authors reveals that the Lydian divine name Malis corresponds to the Greek Athena. In the following, we shall discuss this Lydian goddess from both an Anatolian and a Greek perspective and suggest an identification of the goddess with a small statuette of a female figure found at the Artemis temple in Ephesus.

Abstract
In the following, we shall discuss this Lydian goddess from both an Anatolian and a Greek perspective and suggest an identification of the goddess with a small statuette of a female figure found at the Artemis temple in Ephesus.I documenti in ARCA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
