The article analyzes some words, expressions and interiections relating to the joy in Terence’s commedies, in order to establish if different lexical choises are thought to convey different meanings and aspects of the same emotion. The last paragraph is dedicated to the analysis of two joyful reactions: one of the master, the other of the slave.
