Cicero, Seneca and Hierocles evoke a sort of natural impulse to self-preservation, in the name of which we choose what is convenient and then decide our actions. Consequently, every man becomes responsible for fulfilling the task (officium) entrusted to him by nature, in coherence with the life of the universe. But it is important to observe how much not only the Stoic doctrine, but also the diffusion of the Aristotelian perspective play a role in the background. Hence the importance of verifying the meaning assumed by the "will": it can allow one to decide in consonance (congruenter) or otherwise with destiny.

Abstract
Cicero, Seneca and Hierocles evoke a sort of natural impulse to self-preservation, in the name of which we choose what is convenient and then decide our actions. Consequently, every man becomes responsible for fulfilling the task (officium) entrusted to him by nature, in coherence with the life of the universe. But it is important to observe how much not only the Stoic doctrine, but also the diffusion of the Aristotelian perspective play a role in the background. Hence the importance of verifying the meaning assumed by the "will": it can allow one to decide in consonance (congruenter) or otherwise with destiny.File in questo prodotto:
