Since the end of the First World War, material remains of the confict have undergone progressive transformations. In the last decades, confict archaeol ogy has contributed to the investigation of these remains using a scientifc approach. We present the results of a comprehensive study of two Austro-Hungarian trench systems along the northern Italian Front, one located in the area of Millegrobbe, Trento, and the other, part of the Winterstellung in Rotzo, Vicenza. Our aim is to determine the conservation rate of the trench portions still present in the test sites and to investigate the natural and anthropic contributions in the processes of oblit eration of the WWI infra(structures) and the restoration of the pre-war landscape.

Abstract
Since the end of the First World War, material remains of the confict have undergone progressive transformations. In the last decades, confict archaeol ogy has contributed to the investigation of these remains using a scientifc approach. We present the results of a comprehensive study of two Austro-Hungarian trench systems along the northern Italian Front, one located in the area of Millegrobbe, Trento, and the other, part of the Winterstellung in Rotzo, Vicenza. Our aim is to determine the conservation rate of the trench portions still present in the test sites and to investigate the natural and anthropic contributions in the processes of oblit eration of the WWI infra(structures) and the restoration of the pre-war landscape.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
