Cimarrón. Biografia di uno schiavo fuggiasco

The book is the result of a life encounter between the fugitive ex-slave Esteban Montejo and the anthropologist Miguel Barnet. This testimonial novel relates events in Cuban history, from before the abolition of slavery, through the War of Independence and the advent of the Revolution, through the voice of one of the few cimarrones (freed slave) still alive in Cuba in the mid-20th century. Cimarrón also puts forward as political history the many creative practices carried out by slaves in the colony's system of forces and in the space of everyday life in the barracón.
