The aim of this paper is to offer some descriptive, preliminary results of ongoing research about Chacobo marriage alliance. Nearly eight hundred Chacobo own 510.000 hectares located between the Geneshuaya, Benicito and Yata Rivers in the Beni department of Northern Bolivia. With the Caripuna, the Caxarari and the Pacaguara, the Chacobo have been traditionally labelled as ‘Southeastern Panoan Tribes’. However, their comparative position within the Panoan family is far from being settled, and canonical affiliation could easily misrepresent two important matters.
