The article offers a new edition of a foundation tablet from Nippur, inscribed with a fragmentary royal inscription. Palaeographical and philological analysis, together with improved readings and collations, suggest an attribution to king Ur-Namma, the founder of the Ur III dynasty. The inscription is of historical relevance as it is contains the earliest reference to the building of a temple warehouse, as part of royal activities. In turn, such building is re-evaluated as a connecting point of administrative procedures and royal ideology.
