This paper aims to illustrate the drawings included in the volume by Christian Wilberg Skizzen aus Pergamon nach der Natur gezeichnet (1880), drawings that are intertwined with the story of the discovery of ancient Pergamon (currently Bergama in Turkey) by Carl Humann and Alexander Conze (1878). Unique graphic source largely known that conveys the memory of the site at the time of its rediscovery, the drawings indeed depict the peculiar aspects of the settlement, with special emphasis on landscape elements.
