On 20 July 2021 the European Commission adopted a "package" composed of four proposals to reform the current Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Terrorism Financing (AML-CTF) regulatory framework. The analysis focuses, in particular, on the proposal of a regulation establishing a new centralized authority to cope with these criminal phenomena, highlighting similarities and differences between the proposed new "AML-CTF framework" and the Single Supervisory Mechanism implemented with the Banking Union.
