During the 2004-2005 excavation campaigns, in following a preliminary reconnaissance activity of the adjacencies of the promontory on which the castle is built were some areas were identified that were considered to be more fruitful for the execution of rapid shovel tests. These surveys were mainly aimed at finding of settlement traces in the vicinity of the hill, for that is why it was decided to analyze the wide plateau located South of the castle, which appeared to be a suitable place for the presence of a hypothetical settlement.
