As a bricoleur and archaeologist always a little out of time, in the Agambenian sense of the term, that is, referring to one who is adherent and at the same time distant from his present, Gioli is also an artist collector of images. His appropriation and montage of ready-made or found-footage images are symptoms of an archival attitude that characterizes much of his production, which this paper examines through some significant examples.
