The aim of this paper is to propose a comparative approach to the teaching of so-called psychological verbs in Latin to Italian students. Psychological verbs are particularly difficult to learn in a foreigh or classical language because this class of verbs allows cross-linguistically to express the two arguments in an apparently idiosyncratic way. The paper will show that the cross-linguistic difference only resides in which verb belongs to which subclass. The teaching intervention will therefore capitalize on the fact that the six classes highlighted for Latin are also present in Italian.

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to propose a comparative approach to the teaching of so-called psychological verbs in Latin to Italian students. Psychological verbs are particularly difficult to learn in a foreigh or classical language because this class of verbs allows cross-linguistically to express the two arguments in an apparently idiosyncratic way. The paper will show that the cross-linguistic difference only resides in which verb belongs to which subclass. The teaching intervention will therefore capitalize on the fact that the six classes highlighted for Latin are also present in Italian.File in questo prodotto:
