Unidades de la morfología

The chapter is an introduction to morphology for a reference grammar of Spanish language for Italian speakers, resulting from an international and innovative research project, which gathers researchers from universities of Italy and Spain. The chapter gives an overview of the main issues of (both inflectional and lexical) morphology and characterizes accurately the basic units (root, affixes, stem, base, word) of morphology paying special attention to the description of Spanish. The chapter has a comparative approach with Italian. Although it is an introduction, the chapter develops some personal insights and topics which merit further research.
