Presenze letterarie italiane nel "Journal étranger"

This essay focuses on the occurrences of Italian literature in the "Journal étranger". Distinguishing between articles with a theoretical or historical approach, on the one hand, and monographic articles, on the other, I examine which Italian authors and literary pieces of works are discussed in the journal. In particular, I argue that the "Journal étranger" offers a specific Italian canon, based mainly on poetry and theatre, while literature in prose is set aside. Indeed, considering the picture of Italian literature given by this French journal, one may guess that prose should not be considered as proper to literature, but should be specifically employed to popularise a technical, erudite and specialistic knowledge.
