Reliquie e iscrizioni nella Roma dei secoli VIII-IX

The research examines the development of epigraphy dedicated to the cult of the martyrs during the 6th-10th centuries. In particular, it examines the use of the Damasian capital in its late-antique phase, and its subsequent revival in the 8th century, also in the function of monumental celebration of the martyrs in the urban churches, and thus the relations linking these revivals to the figure of Pope Damasus

La ricerca prende in esame lo sviluppo dell'epigrafia dedicata al culto dei martiri nel corso dei secoli VI-X. In particolare si esamina l'uso della capitale damasiana nella sua fase tardoantica, e la successiva ripresa del secolo VIII, anche in funzione di celebrazione monumentale dei martiri nelle chiese urbane e quindi le relazioni che legano queste riprese alla figura di papa Damaso
