The text analyzes the repercussions of the lack of statuary marble in the design of sculptural decorations for architectural sites in Napoleonic Milan. Through the archival reconstruction, the contribution highlights the search for new quarries, the different aesthetic positions of the architects involved in the design of the city that has become the capital and the changes that have occurred in the practical translation of their projects.
