We do not know the exact date of birth of Alessandro Leopardi, Venetian "architect, sculptor, very skilled bronze foundryman; and one of the engravers of the mint", in the words of E. A. Cicogna. After working at the Mint, one of his other prestigious commissions was to cast the equestrian statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni, designed by the great Verrocchio. His death is thought to be around 1522.
