The Lavy family, probably coming from Savoy, settled in Turin in the second half of the 17th century. From this family came two generations of coin and medal engravers working at the Turin Mint: Lorenzo (1720-1789), Giuseppe (1723-1803), Carlo Michele (1765-1813) and Amedeo (1777-1864).
