In this book, Giuseppe Capriotti has brilliantly explored this interplay between different groups and individuals of South-Slavic origin living in the Early Modern Marche, focusing on the definition and embellishment of places of collective worship. Particularly interesting are his findings in Ancona, where the Republic of St. Blaise has always been considered an equal partner. Therefore, here, identity markers of Dubrovnik, such as patron saint, represented a pole of attraction for Eastern Adriatic immigrants that did not necessarily originate from the territories under Ragusan control.
