The title "L'incerto fine" belongs to Giovan Battista Andreini, who imagines a "subject" or "suddenly" metatheatrical performance, of which the actors who interpret it do not know the outcome. The book presents an idea of comedy, starting from the fact that the same etymological root unites fatum and fabula. There are three main events to which it is dedicated: the "happy ending" in relation to the "horrid beginning" in the sign of the plague of the Decameron, the conclusion of some comedies by "Italian" Shakespeare - or rather of their relationship with Boccaccio, in the contrast to the tragic law of a "comic jurisprudence" - and the contrasting return of the mandatory nature of the tragic ending in the fiction of "subject" representation in Pirandello's metatheatrical dramaturgy.
