The note briefly describes the role of toponymic studies from colonial times to the present in the study of the ancient geography of Gandhara, with special reference to the itinerary of Alexander the Great and those of the Chinese and Tibetan pilgrims in the late antique and medieval ages.
La nota descrive brevemente il ruolo degli studi toponomastici da età coloniale al presente per lo studio della geografia antica del Gandhara, con particolare riferimento all’itinerario d Alessandro Magno e quelli dei pellegrini cinesi e tibetani in età tardoantica e medievale.
