In this chapter, I have taken up the phenomenon of 'dwelling' in contemporary Japan. I have reviewed the history of housing policy in post-war Japan, the history of aspirations regarding housing, changes in the way of living and changes in communities. Finally, it examines the phenomenon of 'dwelling' in contemporary Japan from the perspective of fundamental human rights.

Abstract
In this chapter, I have taken up the phenomenon of 'dwelling' in contemporary Japan.
