The article attempts to focus attention on some aspects concerning the common principles in Sufi and Hindu spirituality. In view of the century-long shared cultural environment of Southern Asia, Islam and Hinduism have found numerous elements of common ground, leading over time to the emergence of an Indo-Islamic culture based on insights concerning different planes of intellectual understanding: the article wants to highlight some considerations and reflections that have led spiritual leaders within the tradition of Islamic mysticism, also known as Sufism, to communicate and interact with their Hindu counterparts, so as to be able to operate cooperation and mutual understanding between the Subcontinent's most important religious, social and spiritual traditions. This makes South Asia's cultural environment both from a point of view of Islam and Hinduism alike.
