After the printing revolution, some Greeks intellectuals used the new medium of transmission even to convey the greek literary heritage to a wider audience. One of the first Greek literary texts printed (if not the first) is the Batrachomyomachia, published in Brescia in 1474: the poem was printed at least three times in the second half of the fifteenth century (1476, 1486, 1488) and in the first decades of XVIth century. Next to his fortune in ancient greek, it was also published in a remake (or in a translation) in vernacular greek (1539?). In 1526 Nikolaos Loukanis published a poetical remake of the Iliad in greek which enclosed a poem about the fall of Troy. The use and reuse of heritage Homeric by some Greeks who settled in Venice is a symptom of a reflection on the use of the spoken language and vulgar literature in the environment of the Greek scholars in the West.
