This article is a short version of the paper I presented at the 2019 EATS conference in Nottingham. The topic is the process of recognition of Taiwan literature and its positioning in global literature. The aim of the paper is to assess the position of Taiwan literature on the background of two major theoretical constructions (the Sinophone and the World literature approach), whose usefulness in granting recognition will be questioned. In doing so, the paper will suggest a critical and prospective view on the recognition of the literature of the island in the world context.
