In 1912, the poet and sculptor Takamura Kōtarō (1883-1956) published an article titled “Miraiha no zekkyō” (The Cry of Futurism), in which he presented various aspects of Italian Futurism. This paper discusses the historical significance of this article in the reception of Futurism in Japan and as a document of Kōtarō’s ideas on art and modernity.
