We first attempt to define intercultural communication by clarifying current terminology, and describing the key aspects that locate translation within Intercultural Communication. We then provide an overview of the various approaches to translation as intercultural communication. The focus is on recent developments of the interculturalists’ view, which goes beyond the traditional debate over foreignization vs. domestication, in favour of a view of translation as mediation.
