The study clarifies how the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR) is a useful tool for both language professionals and teachers, as it can be adapted to the specific needs of its users and applied to many languages, including non-European ones such as Arabic. In specific, the research explains how the CEFR implementation can bring many advantages, on both practical and theoretical levels. Such advantages are discussed in the study: e.g. rethinking of curricula, defining worthwhile and realistic objectives, creating improved textbooks and language tests, but also providing pluralist knowledge of Arab culture, and assisting with overcoming prejudice and discrimination.

Abstract
The study clarifies how the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR) is a useful tool for both language professionals and teachers, as it can be adapted to the specific needs of its users and applied to many languages, including non-European ones such as Arabic. In specific, the research explains how the CEFR implementation can bring many advantages, on both practical and theoretical levels. Such advantages are discussed in the study: e.g. rethinking of curricula, defining worthwhile and realistic objectives, creating improved textbooks and language tests, but also providing pluralist knowledge of Arab culture, and assisting with overcoming prejudice and discrimination.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
