Abstract

In this paper I investigate the vision of the mask in the work "Perusona" (1992) by Tawada Yōko connected to the 'gaze' and strictly linked to the vision of the 'Other' as the object of the gaze, and therefore to the very concept of identity in any sort - regarding not only gender, but for instance also age, ethnicity, nation - as construction.
