In the magical material from the Ancient Mediterranean it can be seen that ritual praxis builds a communicative process where, besides words and objects, there is a complex use of images, which might be contradictory. The aim at this article , in the specific domain of the comprehension of the ritual tradition of " magic" in Antiquity, is to highlight how different modalities of expression (the oral and written word, image, signs, etc should be understood as enunciation tools that are equally relevant and important. Furthermore, we will try to evaluate if these images translate the fundamentals of the oral and proto-scientific tradition.

Abstract
In the magical material from the Ancient Mediterranean it can be seen that ritual praxis builds a communicative process where, besides words and objects, there is a complex use of images, which might be contradictory. The aim at this article , in the specific domain of the comprehension of the ritual tradition of " magic" in Antiquity, is to highlight how different modalities of expression (the oral and written word, image, signs, etc should be understood as enunciation tools that are equally relevant and important. Furthermore, we will try to evaluate if these images translate the fundamentals of the oral and proto-scientific tradition.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
