The first section focuses on Guo's biography, artistic career, and literary achievements. In the second part of the chapter The Goddesses is analyzed in its formal and thematic features, with a special focus on the combination of traditional and innovative forms, foreign and native stylemes, the devices of self-expression, and the theme of destruction and rebirth.
