After some introductory remarks on the textual strata of the Armenian version of the Bible and the information the Armenian historians from the 5th century provide about its translation process, the article offers some commented examples of readings drawn from the Armenian Old Testament to illustrate the multicultural and multilingual context of its origin. Using the books of Chronicles as a case study, after confirming their textual origins in the Antiochian Greek text, it applies the principles of classical textual criticism to the Armenian text, isolating some of its errors and readings, drawing a hypothetical stemma of its tradition, and closing with some final considerations on textual criticism as applied to the Armenian version of the Old Testament.
