This work investigates the hybrid representation of evil in Javier Marías' novel TU ROSTRO MAÑANA (2009). Linking narrative and visuality, history and painting in combination with poetry, the author shows how to talk about a violent scene using cultural memory in an emotional way. Affected by a mortal shooting which leaves him speechless, the main character tries to reach a meaning of what he is seing by means of arts. He remembers a colossal painting of 19th century, "El fusilamiento de Torrijos y sus compañeros" by Antonio Gisbert, and also interpolates lines from a drama by Federico García Lorca, "Mariana Pineda", on the same subject. It is a montage strategy which operates through symptoms and anachronisms.
