The study examines the use of an apparatus collationum fontium in the critical edition of the first part of Andronikos Kamateros’s Sacrum Armamentarium, a dogmatic anthology compiled for Emperor Manuel I Komnenos (1143–1180). This apparatus, designed to record the relationship between patristic excerpta and their sources, allows for an assessment of the compiler’s accuracy and the theological purpose of the work within the context of the Filioque controversy. By comparing this approach with recent examples such as the Florilegium Coislinianum and editions in the Corpus Christianorum series, the paper highlights the methodological strengths and limitations of this tool, demonstrating its value for reconstructing the textual and manuscript history of the work and for understanding the role of Kamateros’s anthology in the transmission of Byzantine theological thought.

Abstract
The study examines the use of an apparatus collationum fontium in the critical edition of the first part of Andronikos Kamateros’s Sacrum Armamentarium, a dogmatic anthology compiled for Emperor Manuel I Komnenos (1143–1180). This apparatus, designed to record the relationship between patristic excerpta and their sources, allows for an assessment of the compiler’s accuracy and the theological purpose of the work within the context of the Filioque controversy. By comparing this approach with recent examples such as the Florilegium Coislinianum and editions in the Corpus Christianorum series, the paper highlights the methodological strengths and limitations of this tool, demonstrating its value for reconstructing the textual and manuscript history of the work and for understanding the role of Kamateros’s anthology in the transmission of Byzantine theological thought.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
