Enclitic and proclitic articles in Albanian

In this paper, I focus on the morpho-syntax of Albanian adjectives to test a proposal put forth in Giusti (2008, 2009, 2011) which treats feature sharing as the result of different configurations triggering application of Merge: Selection, Modification, Projection. I propose that proclitic and enclitic affixes on Albanian nouns and adjectives can be captured by the notion of “scattered head”, which is the spell-out of multiple applications of merge to the same head. I claim that such spell-out results obey paradigm specifications which are part of the lexical entry of the nominal or adjectival head.
