A structurally organized mesoporous CuO/CeO2/Al2O3 catalyst was prepared by a new single step sol-gel synthesis, characterized by TGA,XRD, N2 physisorption and TPR and tested for oxidative steam reforming of methanol (OSRM)at T=200-4000°C , H2O/CH3OH/O2 ratios = 1.1/1/0.12 CH3OH concentration 17.8% GHSV= 6x10EXP4 h-1. The catalyst contained Cu2+ species strongly interacting with CeO2, besides a CuO phase highly dispersed in alumina. After reduction in H2 the catalyst compared with more conventional CuO/CeO2 systems, showed good activity and H2 yield in OSRM process.
