The present paper aims at pinpointing the parallelisms and discrepancies in the narrative structure of the poems of the epic cycle, which focussed on the wars at Thebes and at Troy. Through close analysis of the erotic subject matter of the poem Telegony, it also challenges the current opinion that all the themes narrated in the Homeric poems and in the epic cycle can be referred to the same chronological period. Finally, the theme of the double abduction and rescue of Helen is shown to be regularly operated by pairs of heroes, in accordance with a narrative pattern.

Abstract
The present paper aims at pinpointing the parallelisms and discrepancies in the narrative structure of the poems of the epic cycle, which focussed on the wars at Thebes and at Troy. Through close analysis of the erotic subject matter of the poem Telegony, it also challenges the current opinion that all the themes narrated in the Homeric poems and in the epic cycle can be referred to the same chronological period. Finally, the theme of the double abduction and rescue of Helen is shown to be regularly operated by pairs of heroes, in accordance with a narrative pattern.File in questo prodotto:
