The work discusses the reception of Rousseau in German literature and culture during the age of Goethe. It focusses on the complexity of his writings to show how large the spectrum of readings as well as productive misreadings can be. The analysis tries to avoid any semplification of Rousseau as the hero of a "back to nature" ideology, searching for more original and diversified issues of his oeuvre, as they emerge in Germany and particularly in Herder, Füssli, Wieland, Goethe, Schiller and Kleist.

Abstract
The work discusses the reception of Rousseau in German literature and culture during the age of Goethe. It focusses on the complexity of his writings to show how large the spectrum of readings as well as productive misreadings can be. The analysis tries to avoid any semplification of Rousseau as the hero of a "back to nature" ideology, searching for more original and diversified issues of his oeuvre, as they emerge in Germany and particularly in Herder, Füssli, Wieland, Goethe, Schiller and Kleist.File in questo prodotto:
