The Old Swedish "Karl Magnus", which is an abridged translation of the Old Norwegian "Karlamagnús saga", is preserved in what are considered the most important miscellanies compiled in Sweden in the late Middle Ages (Cod. Holm D 4, Cod. Holm D 4 a, Cod. Holm. D 3, AM 191 fol). Furthemore, the text has been handed down to us in two different redactions. The main aim of this paper is to analyse the text as part of an intertextual dialogue involving a number of other texts preserved in the same manuscripts in which it is preserved.
