The present inquiry, starting from Karl Polanyi's remarks, investigates some results of Carl Menger's revision of his 1871 "Grundsatze...". A synthetic analysis of Polanyi's method accounts for his interest in Menger's revision, which is also situated within the history of economics. The last section deals with the concepts of value and scarcity, on the basis of previously expounded arguments.
