This work tackles with Borges's answer to the linguistic conflict wich arose in Argentina due to the search for a national identity and to the multilingual society resulting from massive migratory waves. Borges's usage of the Rio de la Plata linguistic variety in his early years is described and analyzed together with his theoretical position in conferences, articles and interviews.
